The problem of providing meterological support in planning take-off and climb to altitude by supersonic transports has been partially solved by experience gained with jet aircraft, although this applies more specifically to descent, approach, and landing. The immediate problem is to provide weather services and airfield instrumentation that will enable rapid forecasting at terminals so that effective planning will ensure economical operation and safety.
