The work presents the design, calibration and application of two sets of dynamometric load cells enabling to measure the aerodynamic loads applied to the front and rear wings of a Formula 3 racing car during track tests. The approach was to design two load cells systems in order to reproduce the actual wing support and to measure six independent load components on each wing without changing the aerodynamic conditions.Track data were collected on an airport runway at stepped constant speed, for different wing and flap configurations by means of a portable data acquisition system. The drag and lift forces were analysed and plotted versus the air speed giving a set of charts suitable for the optimal car set-up.
