The patent relates to a novel and improved system for restraining the pilot or occupant in a seat during an emergency situation. The improved system includes a lever assembly which, when operated, draws opposite ends of a lap belt downwardly and forwardly so as to minimize the tendency of the pilot to submarine under the belt.
