This effort developed a high data-rate, multimedia communications network design for an airborne platform. The network has both military and civilian applications. The results of this work may be applied to military airborne C41 platforms, such as the Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS), the Airborne Air Command Center (AACC), and the Objective Widebody (OW). Future commercial aircraft will be supplying multimedia communications to each passenger seat via telephones, movies, video games, and catalog ordering.
