This study examines 1976 developments in the automobile industries of the United States, Canada, Japan, Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Italy and Sweden. The study focuses on passenger car registrations, production, exports and imports in each of the eight major producing countries, placing 1976 events in the context of trends developing in earlier years, particularly the period since 1973. The introductory pages of the study summarize the overall passenger car situation in 1976. Numerous charts and graphs supplement the text.
