Payload and orbital factors affecting satellite attitude control are reviewed and attitude control systems design is discussed. Gravity gradient, solar stabilization, aerodynamic stabilization, magnetic stabilization, spin stabilization, momentum bias/dual spin, momentum exchange, and mass expulsion are described. Attitude control of the GEOS, Meteosat, TD-1, OTS, and MAROTS satellites is outlined.
