The report indicates that dynamic ramp metering on a section of the Eisenhower Expressway in Chicago has resulted in an increase in effective volumes using the expressway, an increase in average speeds, a concomitant decrease in travel times, a significant reduction in peak period congestion and a decreasing accident rate.
