The report aims at achieving three tasks. First it specifies a post war consistent time series on transport investment and capital stock sector by sector. Then it shows by way of examples how it is possible to try out some theories on how transport capital is linked to transport. Thirdly the examples are used to show that the needed growth rate of road capital is lagging behind demand while the growth rate of airport capital is just about the right one. The study has been financed by the Ministry of Transport and Communication.
