Federal Maritime Commission Performance and Accountability Report, Fiscal Year 2007
The Federal Maritime Commission (FMC or Commission) Performance and Accountability Report (Report or PAR) for Fiscal Year (FY) 2007 will enable industry participants and the general public to become more aware of the Commission's ongoing efforts and successes in the regulation of the shipping industry. We believe that the performance and financial data in the Report are complete and reliable under the Office of Management and Budget guidelines. In a few clearly marked instances, estimates have been used where actual numbers do not yet exist. As data becomes available, those estimates will be replaced with actual figures in subsequent Reports. The Commission's mission is to: Develop and administer policies and regulations that foster a fair, efficient and secure maritime transportation system; Protect U.S. maritime commerce from unfair foreign trade practices and market-distorting activities; Facilitate compliance with U.S. shipping statutes through oversight and outreach; and assist in resolving disputes.
