The modernization of ships has made a remarkable progress in recent years mainly in the improvement of performances and automation of individual apparatuses. However, the development of software exclusively for operation is essenial for the efficient integrated mangement of ships. From the viewpoint, NKK developed a Computer Aided Navigation System CANSY. First, developed was the navigation data automatic recording system to be used as an aid for operation control and have installed it on six ships to date. Next, developed was the rough-weather navigation system and the energy-saving navigation system to enable captains to make exact judgment under all circumstances, and have installed it on one ship. The paper presents an outline and some examples of application of CANSY.
