Search and Rescue remains a part of U.S. Air Force doctrine. The Sandy mission is a Search and Rescue (SAR) task force that is performed by tactical fighter aircraft. This study investigates the validity of the Sandy mission in present day and possible future combat situations. It concludes that a SAR task force including Sandy dedicated aircraft remains a viable mission for some areas of the world today and in the years to come.
