The primary purposes of this flight were to obtain data on the re-entry vehicle impact location for the statistical determination of the CEP, to evaluate the ability of the MAPCHE System and procedures to check out a missile and place it in a first readiness condition, to evaluate the Sandia simulated warhead, to evaluate the Acoustica PU System, and to evaluate the Inertial Guidance System performance and accuracy.
