A public information and program feasibility study supporting the National Highway Safety Bureau's alcohol safety countermeasures program, aimed at removing the problem drinker-driver from the nation's highways, was conducted. Two tasks were required: A literature search to establish familiarity with the current status of research on alcohol in relation to traffic safety, proposed countermeasures, and previous national alcohol safety programs; and a research test program, including a sampling program, and provision of specific concepts for the public information program.
