The report presents the transcripts of the discussions recorded at the WGS84 Implementation Workshop which was hosted by EUROCONTROL at its Institute of Air Navigation Services on June 16-18 1992. The gathering brought together specialists and practitioners from across the civil aviation spectrum to hear about, discuss and exchange ideas on the introduction of World Geodetic System 1984 (WGS84) as the single coordinate reference system for civil aviation in Europe. ICAO, IATA, the ECAC States, airframe manufactures, navigation system and database suppliers and geodetic specialists were strongly represented. Papers were given on the various aspects of the problem with contributions from ICAO, EUROCONTROL, various civil aviation administration, IATA, NATO, the International Hydrographic Bureau, the FAA, geodesists and charting and database specialists. After an introduction explaining the background to the meeting the transcripts are presented in two parts. Part I deals with the discussions held after each session whereas Part II is devoted to the comments aired during a Round Table discussion which closed the Workshop. Finally, in Part III, the Workshop conclusions are given which will be used to form the basis of a proposed WGS84 Implementation Programme for European civil aviation.
