The report examines the effect of urban sprawl on private car ownership and use in the commuting areas of Oslo and Bergen 1980-96. The spread of population has been modes tin the period. The calculated effects of the changed distribution of population on car ownership and road traffic have been modest related to the observed growth. The extensive sprawl of jobs seems to have had a larger influence.
