In comparison to conventional propulsion systems, electrified powertrains provide dissimilar acceleration characteristics. Consequentially, the perception of longitudinal dynamics of an electrified vehicle is appreciably different. Existing evaluation measurands, such as acceleration time or top speed, cannot assess this dynamic potential in a perspective relevant for the user. This paper proposes a new method to evaluate the longitudinal dynamics of road vehicles. The presented use case shows that the dynamic potential of an electric powertrain can clearly be identified and quantified. By this method, a new evaluation module is provided that supports the designers in their decision making process for a powertrain that is attractive for the user.
