Optical and thermal characteristics of the Nd:LuVO/sub 4/ crystals grown by the floating zone method

By the floating zone method, we succeeded to grow high-quality Nd:LuVO/sub 4/ crystals. Favorable optical properties and laser performances were observed with obtained crystals. The thermal conductivity of the Nd:LuVO/sub 4/ was measured for the first time.
