2 kW CW output power at 1075 nm from a highly efficient all-fiber-format ytterbium fiber laser with M/sup 2/<1.2 was demonstrated. As a result, a record diffraction-limited brightness (W/(M/sup 2/*M/sup 2/)) of 1400 W is achieved.
