Laboratory tests to determine irregular wave overtopping rates on coastal structures were conducted at the Coastal Engineering Research Center in Vicksburg, Mississippi. These tests were intended to solve a site-specific problem at Roughans Point, Massachusetts. The results have yielded specific information for Roughans Point and a general approach to calculating irregular wave overtopping rates which is superior to the method given in the Shore Protection Manual (1984).
