The present invention relates to an electronic device for a vehicle, the electronic device including a processor which performs a conversion from a sensor-based autonomous travel mode or a communication-based autonomous travel mode to a combined mode wherein autonomous travel control signals are generated, on the basis of a sensor data-based host vehicle autonomous travel-enabling function and an auxiliary autonomous travel function supporting the host vehicle autonomous travel-enabling function, or additional autonomous travel functions that are additionally required, by transmitting and receiving information to and from an external server supporting an autonomous travel service based on 5G communication.
