To provide a rubber composition for a heavy-load tire that has improved abrasion resistance and low rolling resistance to a level higher than a conventional level and to provide a production method for the rubber composition.SOLUTION: A rubber composition for a heavy-load tire has 40 to 60 pts.mass of silica having a CTAB adsorption specific surface area of 180 to 300 m/g and 3 to 10 pts.mass of carbon black having a nitrogen adsorption specific surface area of 110 to 150 m/g blended into 100 pts.mass of a rubber component composed of 55 to 70 mass% of natural rubber and 30 to 45 mass% of butadiene rubber and contains a silane coupling agent having a sulfide bond in an amount of 6 to 15 mass% based on an amount of silica.SELECTED DRAWING: None
