To provide a portable repeater and a remote vehicle operation system with which it is possible to reliably operate a vehicle from a distance.SOLUTION: A vehicle control system 100 comprises an immobilizer-transponder function that includes an immobilizer function and a transponder-based wireless transmission reception function. A remote vehicle operation system 101 comprises an onboard repeater 3 which is communicable with a vehicle control device 1 and a portable repeater 4 which is communicable with a portable instrument 2. The onboard repeater 3 receives a response request signal transmitted from the vehicle control device 1 and wirelessly transmits it to the portable repeater 4, as well as receives a response signal wirelessly transmitted from the portable repeater 4 and transmits it to the vehicle control device 1. The portable repeater 4 receives a response request signal wirelessly transmitted from the onboard repeater 3 and transmits it to the portable instrument 2, as well as receives a response signal transmitted from the portable instrument 2 on the basis of the response request signal and wirelessly transmits it to the onboard repeater 3.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
