To provide a periphery monitoring device capable of allowing a user to easy to imagine a towed vehicle from displayed images even when the length of the towed vehicle is hard to find on the basis of images captured by an imaging unit.SOLUTION: A periphery monitoring device in an embodiment comprises a control unit that is configured so as to, as an example, based on images of the surroundings of the tow vehicle obtained by an imaging unit, display a display image on a display device, in which an indicator representing a vehicle towed by a tow vehicle connected thereto is superimposed over vehicle peripheral images including the tow vehicle and the periphery of the tow vehicle; to acquire a piece of information on the towed vehicle; and to change the display mode of the indicator on the basis of the information of the towed vehicle.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6

【課題】撮像部の撮像により得られる撮像画像に基づいて、被牽引車両の車長を求めることができない場合でも、表示用画像から、被牽引車両をイメージし易くする。【解決手段】実施形態の周辺監視装置は、一例として、牽引車両の周囲を撮像部によって撮像して得られる撮像画像に基づいて、牽引車両および当該牽引車両の周囲を含む車両周辺画像に、牽引車両に連結される被牽引車両を示す指標が重畳された表示用画像を表示装置に表示させ、被牽引車両に関する被牽引車両情報を取得し、被牽引車両情報に基づいて、指標の表示態様を変更する制御部、を備える。【選択図】図６
