PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To further improve occupant protection performance.SOLUTION: An occupant protection device 10 includes a seating surface airbag 21 which is stored under a seating surface of a seat 4 of a motor vehicle 1, expands upward from a center part in a lateral direction of the seating surface of the seat 4, and protrudes between a right thigh portion and a left thigh portion of an occupant seated on the seat 4. The seating surface airbag 21 has: an erected expansion part 23 which expands upward from the seating surface of the seat 4 and is erected between the right thigh portion and the left thigh portion of the occupant seated on the seat 4; and a left and right expansion part 24 which expands from an upper end of the erected expansion part 23 to left and right sides in a crosswise direction to be positioned above the right thigh portion and the left thigh portion. 【課題】乗員保護性能を更に改善する。【解決手段】乗員保護装置１０は、自動車１のシート４の座面の下に格納されて、シート４の座面についての左右方向の中央部から上へ向かって展開してシート４に着座した乗員の右腿部と左腿部との間に突出する座面エアバッグ２１を有する。座面エアバッグ２１は、シート４の座面から上へ展開してシート４に着座した乗員の右腿部と左腿部との間に立設される立設展開部２３と、立設展開部２３の上端から左右の横方向へ展開して右腿部および左腿部の上に位置する左右展開部２４と、を有する。左右展開部２４は、立設展開部２３より遅れて展開する。【選択図】図５
