PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize an occupant protection function different from that of a present automobile when a vehicle like an automobile is in automatic operation.SOLUTION: An occupant protection device 10 of an automobile 1 includes: a seat 4 on which an occupant sits in a vehicle; a first member 18 to be developed or movable on an inner side in a vehicle width direction of the vehicle for the seat 4 so that an upper body of the occupant falling inward from the seat 4 is pushed up from below; a second member 19 to be developed or movable outward in the vehicle width direction from an upper part of the first member 18; and a control part 13 that controls development or movement of the first member 18 and the second member 19. At least during collision detection in quick turning, during detection of collision when excessive acceleration equal to or more than a prescribed value acts in the vehicle width direction, or during detection of collision in steering control in automatic operation, the control part 13 develops or moves the first member 18 and the second member 19.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
【課題】自動車といった車両では、たとえば自動運転中において現在の自動車とは異なる乗員保護機能を持たせる必要性がある。【解決手段】自動車１の乗員保護装置１０は、車両内で乗員が着座するシート４と、シート４についての車両の車幅方向内側において、シート４から内倒した乗員の上体を下から上へ押し上げるように展開または可動する第一部材１８と、第一部材１８の上部から車幅方向外方へ向かって展開または可動する第二部材１９と、第一部材１８および第二部材１９の展開または可動を制御する制御部１３と、を有する。制御部１３は、少なくとも、急旋回中の衝突検出時、車幅方向に所定値以上の過大な加速度が作用した最中に衝突を検出する時、または自動運転中の転舵制御中の衝突検出時に、第一部材１８および第二部材１９を展開または可動させる。【選択図】図４
