A load moving apparatus 10 has a ground engaging device 14 (such as a wheel) for rotation about a substantially horizontal axis and driveable using a drive member, for example an electric motor (16, Figure 2). A transmission member (18, Figure 2) connects the drive member and ground engaging device 14 and transmits drive from the drive member to the ground engaging device. A chassis member (11, Figure 4) extends along an axis (A, Figure 4) to support ground engaging device 14 and the drive member, and has first and second surfaces (111, 112, Figire 4) defining outermost surfaces of the chassis member and which are spaced a first radial distance from axis A. The drive member extends a second radial distance from the axis A which is greater than the first radial distance. The chassis member may suitably be linear and square or quadrangular. The apparatus may have a handle 40.
