[Problem to be Solved]To make it possible to smoothly and promptly perform an emergency evacuation (bringing a vehicle to a road shoulder) when a driver cannot take over operation when a failure occurs.[Solution]At operation of a function for evacuating a vehicle to a road shoulder when a driver cannot take over operation when a failure occurs, when the vehicle is driving in a lane other than a first lane neighboring the road shoulder, automated lane change to the first lane is performed, and prior thereto, a predetermined area serving as a criterion of the lane change to the first lane is set to a second predetermined area smaller than the predetermined area of the automated lane change, and when the vehicle is driving in the first lane neighboring the road shoulder at operation of the function for evacuating, or when automated lane change to the first lane is performed during operation of the function for evacuating and the vehicle is driving in the first lane, prior to evacuation to the road shoulder, a predetermined area serving as a criterion of evacuation to the road shoulder is set to a third predetermined area smaller than the second predetermined area.
