Provided is a replacement aid (10) capable of improving the replacement workability of an umbrella-shaped roller (90) for guiding a moving handrail (82) of an escalator (80). In order to replace an umbrella-shaped roller (90) arranged on the inner peripheral side of a moving handrail (82) of an escalator (80), the replacement auxiliary tool (10) expands end parts (82A) of two side parts bent towards the inner side of the width direction on the back side of the moving handrail (82) to the outer side, and the replacement auxiliary tool (10) is provided with a pair of rods (20) which are rotatably supported so that the tail end sides can be opened by closing the base end sides; a pair of engagement pieces (30) which are respectively provided at the ends of the rods (20) and which are respectively engaged with the ends (82A) of the moving armrests (82); and a latch mechanism (40) that latches the pair of rods (20) in a state in which the distal end sides of the pair of rods (20) are open.
