The invention belongs to the field of urban traffic control, and provides an urban traffic supersaturated region boundary control method and system. The method specifically comprises the following steps: S1, acquiring vehicle data of a controlled supersaturated area, and establishing a supersaturated urban traffic area model; and S2, based on the supersaturated urban traffic area model and an input-output feedback linearization theory, obtaining an optimal input traffic volume. Compared with an existing linearization boundary control technical scheme, the boundary control algorithm belongs to a global linearization algorithm, potential system performance divergence can be avoided, the traffic state of a controlled supersaturation area can be adjusted to an expected state more quickly and smoothly, and the traffic control efficiency is improved. The method is superior to a PI boundary control algorithm in terms of two indexes of road network accumulated space average traffic flow and vehicle average speed, can be easily expanded to road network boundary control of multiple macroscopic basic map subareas, and can effectively relieve traffic jam in a supersaturated urban area.
