The invention relates to a safety system (18) for a motor vehicle (10), comprising: a gas reservoir (20) in which a pressurized gas is stored; a valve (22) associated with the gas reservoir (20); at least one bladder (24) which is connected to the valve (22) via a fluid line (30); and a control device (26). Vehicle information (32) is stored in the control device (26), and the control device (26) is designed to actuate the valve (22) in the event of an accident of the motor vehicle (10) on the basis of the vehicle information (32) and to fill the airbag (24) with gas stored in the gas reservoir (20). The invention further relates to a method for controlling a motor vehicle safety system and to a control device.
