The invention is applicable to the related field of cranes, and provides a portal crane protection device which comprises at least one group of protection boxes, the driving assembly is used for driving the protection box to slide on the gantry crane; the protection mechanism is arranged in the protection box; wherein the protection mechanism comprises a touch frame, a driving box, an upper pressing block, a lower pressing block, a movable plate, a locking rack and a locking rack guide rail, the driving box is arranged in a protection box in a sliding mode, the touch frame is in sliding fit with the protection box, the locking rack guide rail is arranged on the gantry crane, and the upper pressing block is arranged on the upper pressing block. The locking rack is slidably mounted on the protection box through a moving plate, the lower pressing block is arranged on the moving plate, the upper pressing block is slidably connected with the protection box, and one end of the upper pressing block is fixedly connected with the driving box. Through the arrangement of the protection mechanism, the safety of the portal crane during use is effectively improved.
