The invention relates to an apparatus (10) for determining the temperature of a resistance heating device (102), having a temperature sensor (12), which is designed to detect the temperature of the resistance heating device (101) by sensor, and an electronic data processing and/or control device (14), which is designed to calculate a temperature change of the resistance heating device (102) on the basis of a change in the resistance value of the resistance heating device (102) and a correlation (26, 26a-26c) between the electrical resistance (R) and the temperature (T) of the resistance heating device (102) and to validate a temperature of the resistance heating device (102) detected by the temperature sensor (12) by taking into account the calculated temperature change of the resistance heating device (102).
