The invention relates to a method and to a door system (2) for optimizing passenger transport by means of an elevator installation (1), which elevator installation comprises a car (3) for transportingpassengers (16, 16a, 16b) between a starting floor (13) and a destination floor (14, 15), the door system (2) having at least one landing door (4) and one car door (5), which are opened in the case of a stop at the destination floor (14) and/or when a car call button (6) is pressed at the starting floor (13) and remain closed during the travel of the car (3).
