The invention discloses an automobile emergency starting device and method. The device comprises a 4S power supply and an intelligent clamp. The 4S power supply is provided with a charging interface,a discharging interface, a charging circuit, a discharging circuit and an energy storage unit formed by connecting four batteries in series. The intelligent clamp comprises two clamps and a control circuit. The control circuit includes an electronic switch connected between a first electric energy input end and a first electric energy output end, an MCU connected to the control end of the electronic switch, a manual switch controlling on/off of the electronic switch, and a short-circuit detection circuit connected with the first electric energy input end, the first electric energy output end and the MCU. The method comprises the following steps: the intelligent clamp is connected with the 4S power supply, and the two clamps are clamped to positive and negative electrode columns of an automobile storage battery; the manual switch is pressed down; the engine is started; and when the load is short-circuited, the short-circuit detection circuit triggers the MCU to control the electronic switch to be switched off. The device can realize short-circuit protection, and adopts a 4S power supply, so that the reliability is better.
