A vehicle-mounted digital signage apparatus, including: a digital display mounted to the vehicle and configured for viewing by persons external to the vehicle; a processing component operatively coupled to the digital display and one or more of: (i) a CAN network of the vehicle; and (ii) a wireless telecommunications network; and a digital storage medium having stored thereon processor-executable instructions that, when executed by at least one processor of the processing component, cause the processing component to dynamically generate or select content and display the generated or selected content on the digital display, wherein the content can be selectively generated or selected on the basis of any of one or more of: (i) data of a navigation system of the vehicle; (ii) data of a telematics component of the vehicle; (iii) temporal information; (iv) data or commands received from a remote operator or authority via the wireless telecommunications network; (v) one or more locations of the vehicle; (vi) one or more characteristics of an environment of the vehicle; or (vii) information from or derived from a camera of the vehicle.
