AbstractLandau–Zener and Rosen–Zener approximations have been applied for the calculation of rate coefficients of electron energy transfer processes in collisions of two molecules. Simple temperature dependence has been obtained for the cases of crossing and non-crossing adiabatic states. Franck–Condon factors for electronic transitions in colliding molecules are taken into account for intramolecular and intermolecular energy transfer processes. A method for the calculation of rate coefficients of inelastic electron quenching in molecular collisions for atmospheric gases with closed electron shells is proposed.
