Problem is to determine if warrant for traffic signal control can be established for intersection of main street and minor street, by using relation between availability of gaps in traffic stream on main street and lag and/or gap acceptance by drivers on minor street; as basis for such warrant, gap utilization at intersection is determined; four examples are given; gap utilizations obtained agreed in at least first two decimal places with given analytic solutions; for multidistribution gap problem, simulation may very well be only way to obtain reasonably accurate values if nearly total blocking does not occur within platoons.
