Hypothetical automated system is envisioned in which passengers would "call in" information describing their departure and arrival time preferences, subsequent to which central computer facility would calculate satisfaction maximizing schedules, and inform each passenger of his assignment to particular vehicle departure; this paper is confined to scheduling of single vehicle to satisfy N potential passengers wishing to travel between single origin and single destination.
