Train heating with locomotive exhaust steam offers, in author's opinion, almost insurmountable difficulties; combined power and heating plants have been most effective in railroad repair shops; largest combined heating and power plant of German railroad has annual power generation 12,000,000 kw.-hr. and maximum hourly waste-heat supply of 12,500,000 kg.-cal.
