Sound and vibration data measured on combination diesel gas turbine propulsion system in 2000-ton antisubmarine warfare ship are presented; data can be considered representative of noise levels, both structureborne and airborne, that can be expected in installation of this or similar type; examples of attenuation of structureborne noise through selected structural joints illustrate vibration isolation attainable through use of light weight aircraft-type structures.
