Auxiliary highly-cambered airfoil of medium thickness having chord 14.5% that of main wing, tested in 141 different positions ahead of, above, and behind nose portion of main wing; combination gave increase in maximum lift coefficient of 32% together with increase in ratio CLmax/CDmin of 21% of respective values for main Clark Y wing alone.
