New feature of modified Lansing Bagnall FRER3 Spacemaker reach truck design is motor-in-wheel drive unit consisting of drive motor with turntable bearing, gyral gearbox and 15×5 in. drive wheel; 2.6 hp special design shuntwound motor has ball and roller bearing mounted armature and insulation capable of meeting extreme conditions of heat and cold; it is splined to gyral gearbox so that drive motor acts as wheel hub.
