The feature of pavement segment profile is important to anti-skid performance. Traditional parameters of describing the feature in vertical direction are arithmetic average errors, mean-square errors and mean profile depth. However, asphalt pavement has complexity and relativity. So fractal theory can be applied to study the feature of pavement segment profile. A useful approach is to adopt fractal dimension computed by fractal interpolation function to describe pavement segment profile. This paper discussed several methods to describe segment profile feature of asphalt pavement, and studied the approach to derive fractal interpolation function and fractal dimension according to data acquired by high-precision laser range finder, and analyzed the correlation between fractal dimension and arithmetic average errors, mean-square errors, mean profile depth. In order to show fractal feature of pavement, changing curves of segment profile depth for four asphalt samples are simulated according to affine transformation.
