In this paper a non-linear multi-body model of a rail vehicle is combined with a finite element model of its bogie-frame. The finite element model is reduced by eigenmode representation. Simulation solution of the equation of motion is carried out using the combined flexible multi-body model. IV Track spectrum is used as input. Loading histories at some critical positions were calculated, which is used as input of fatigue. Fatigue simulation was finally done based on stress distribution, stress-time histories. Simulation results are compared with on-track measurements carried out on the real vehicle and track. The approach for calculating bogie-frame life is effective, can be used in actual engineering.
