To ensure the safe running of locomotives a dynamics computing model 25T axle load C0-C0 axis dynamic model of heavy haul locomotive is established in this paper with the multi-rigid-body dynamics analysis software Simpack. Influence of lateral free clearance of intermediate axle box bearings on the stability of straight running , curve passing performance on three different radii and guidance force of wheel set, incidence angle , derailment coefficient, friction power are analyzed . The conclusion is that 13mm lateral free clearance of intermediate axle box bearings of middle axle can reduce the friction of wheel , optimize the overall dynamic performance of locomotive and ensure the locomotive's operational safety. This paper provides a proposal to the selection of lateral free clearance of intermediate axle box bearings of this type heavy haul locomotive.
