The storage establishment of the railway freight station is an important node in supply chain, To optimal the warehouse space utilization of storage establishment, can reduce the logistics cost in the whole supply chain. Generally, the decision maker determine the maximum storage space of the railway freight station through the predict of freight volume or other measures, and it is very high cost if the railway freight station to repair new storage establishment to increase the storage space after it operation. To meet the inventory needs increased day by day in a supply chain, we should develop a scenario to maximum the warehouse space utilization of existing storage establishment in the railway freight station. This paper presents a solving approach for this problem, optimal the warehouse space utilization of existing storage establishment by optimal the replenishment cycles of the supply chain, as to maximum the warehouse utilization space. A model for warehouse space utilization optimization is established with the reference on maximum warehouse utilization space. Then, we employ this model in a genetic algorithm (GA) to search for the optimal replenishment schedule. Using simply instance, we show that the proposed GA significantly performs effective and efficiency.
