To suppress deterioration of exhaust emissions during outflow of HC and NOx from an adsorbent disposed in an exhaust passage of an internal combustion engine.SOLUTION: An exhaust emission control device for an internal combustion engine includes: an adsorbent 20 that is disposed in an exhaust passage of the internal combustion engine 50 and adsorbs HC and NOx in exhaust gas; a catalyst 24 that is disposed on the downstream side in the exhaust gas flowing direction of the adsorbent in the exhaust passage and eliminates HC and NOx; an air-fuel ratio control section 31 for controlling an air-fuel ratio of exhaust gas discharged from an engine body of the internal combustion engine to the exhaust passage; and a temperature calculation section 32 for calculating a temperature of the adsorbent. In the adsorbent, a desorption temperature of HC is higher than that of NOx. When the temperature of the adsorbent is around the desorption temperature of NOx, the air-fuel control section sets the air-fuel ratio to a theoretical air-fuel ratio, and then, when the temperature of the adsorbent reaches a temperature around the desorption temperature of HC, the air-fuel ratio control section makes the air-fuel ratio leaner than the theoretical air-fuel ratio.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3

    【課題】内燃機関の排気通路に配置された吸着材からHC及びNOxが流出する際に排気エミッションが悪化することを抑制する。【解決手段】内燃機関の排気浄化装置は、内燃機関50の排気通路に配置されると共に排気ガス中のHC及びNOxを吸着する吸着材20と、排気通路において吸着材よりも排気流れ方向下流側に配置されると共にHC及びNOxを浄化する触媒24と、内燃機関の機関本体から排気通路に排出される排気ガスの空燃比を制御する空燃比制御部31と、吸着材の温度を算出する温度算出部32とを備える。吸着材においてHCの脱離温度がNOxの脱離温度よりも高く、空燃比制御部は、吸着材の温度がNOxの脱離温度近傍にあるときに空燃比を理論空燃比にし、その後、吸着材の温度がHCの脱離温度近傍に達したときに空燃比を理論空燃比よりもリーンにする。【選択図】図3
