Disclosed are a snakelike web crawling robot and a web crawling method thereof. The snakelike web crawling robot comprises a plurality of unit modules, wherein all the unit modules are connected in series through universal joint drive units, each unit module comprises a dual motor drive steering engine and scale mechanisms located on two sides of the dual motor drive steering engine, a drive motor and a center gear fixed with an output end of the drive motor are arranged in each scale mechanism, three planet gears meshed with each center gear are arranged on the periphery of each center gear, tooth rings are arranged on the outer sides of the planet gears, each gear ring is provided with an internal tooth and an external tooth, the internal teeth are meshed with the planet gears, a plurality of transmission gears are meshed with each external tooth, the transmission gears are distributed on the peripheries of the tooth rings, the transmission gears are fixed on a worm, the worm is matched with a worm gear, and scales are fixed on the worm gear. By adopting the mode of using the motor to drive the gears and then drive the worm and the worm gear, the sables are enabled to grasp grids, the snakelike web crawling robot is high in reliability and easy to control, and the unit modules not only can be used in crawling, but also can be used as mechanical arms so as to execute an overhaul task.
