In the present paper measures for improvement of locomotive diesels type CN 26/26 for ensuring of their operation without re-adjustments under extreme climatic conditions, the ambient temperature variations within +50 deg C to -60 deg C and barometric pressure within 1009 to 833 hPa are described. Methods of elimination of impermissible mechanical and thermal overloadings, for improvements of operating characteristics on transient regimes and long operation at no load in winter conditions are also described in the present paper. Realization of the following measures ensured reliable operation in the wide range of climatic conditions variations, typical for railways in the USSR: reduction of thermal stress at operation in conditions of high temperatures and low barometric pressure; improvement of diesel operation characteristics on transient regimes; ensuring of long operation at no load in winter conditions and so on.
