The development and qualification of a water-base drilling fluid system engineered for a well to be drilled in 837 meters of water off Norway was analyzed. The data from the proprietory hydraulics software program was generated regularly and and checked agianst that delivered by the pressure throughout the drilling of both the sections of well. The thermodynamic inhibition was achieved for the normal drilling phase and a comfortable shut in window for the maximum gas kick design. During drilling process the properties of the drilling fluid were found to be constant throughout the well and the wellbore remained stable and in good condition.
